UTAH ARTS ARE [ALIVE]

I’m passionately involved in life: I love its change, its color, its movement. To be alive, to be able to see, to walk, to have houses, music, paintings– it’s all a miracle.
Arthur Rubinstein, Pianist
The Utah Theater (Pantages Theater) building was born as a center of performance art in 1918. It lived through significant phases and generated great history for performance and visual art industry in Salt Lake City. Ever since a local dance company left the building in 1992, there was no activity in the building. The place was deceased.
The idea for the installation art began to awake the building and live alive again. The dynamic painting was drawn on the white canvas using motives of human body and natural movement. On the center, there is text “ALIVE” making sentence after existing text “Utah Arts”. It is 3D texts with reflective finish so it captures lives on the street crosswalk. With reopening of Regent street, it will create cultural anchor point on the other side of Main Street.
