Kwon grew up in Seoul witnessing her place changing from dirt road to town, later gave way to high-rise buildings. This transitional experience led her to believe optimistic vision of the future, how environmental design can influence on humanity. Her work often reveals beauty of fluidity follows natural logic that are not sensible unless artwork frames.

After moving to US to continue to study architecture, and throughout years of practice, she has participated in various art and architectural projects hoping to contribute on shaping positive social context. She is currently practicing as an licensed architect at GSBS architects and runs Soonju Kwon art studio.
